I. GENERAL INFORMATION

  • All entries and performances need to be collectively registered by studio/Academy.  Students or parents must not establish a school account by themselves.
  • The registration teacher or person in charge is responsible to enter correct and complete information in the registration system.  If the participant is registered as an independent entrant, please indicate “Individual” under Organization Name.
  • The teacher or person in charge must carefully read all the disclaimers before submitting the entry.  All registration information must be reviewed and confirmed prior to submitting it to the system.
  • If any adjustment needed, the person in charge will need to report to the organizing committee at least 2 weeks prior to the competition for review and approval.  Any changes due to personal reasons made after the final competition order send may be disqualified for participation in the competition by the organizing committee. 
  • Due to the length of the competition, all entries will be accepted by a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • The payment method will be specified within the registration system, all payments need to made in full prior to the competition.
  • Pan America Chinese Dance Alliance (PACDA) reserves the right to add additional competition days and/or change competition time. PACDA also reserves the right to cancel any event that does not meet the minimum number of acceptable entries. 
  • In the event of a canceled competition, all entry fees will be refunded. There will be NO refunds for entries if the required minimum number of acts are registered and the competition has been confirmed. 
  • Solo/Duo/Trio dances will compete live online. Group dances will provide video(s) recorded between 2018-2021.  To ensure the quality of the video, performances must be professionally recorded using 1080P.mov or mp4.H264.  Insufficient quality of the video will not be accepted.  The provider must have the rights to such work, any copyright issues will be considered automatic withdraw from the competition.
  • All participants authorize and agree that PACDA may take and use photographs, videos or likenesses of themselves as needed for its record-keeping, advertising, social media and/or public relations projects and have no rights to the same and will not be compensated for the same.

 

II. SAFETY

 

  • Dancers competing take certain inherent risks when involved in any physical activity. Participation in this competition indicates the acceptance of such risks by the performers. Therefore, upon registration to any PACDA event, it is agreed that participants will not hold PACDA responsible for injuries that occur or illnesses that may be contracted during the competition event.
  • Due to the online competition event, PACDA encourages all dancers:
    • Be responsible of surroundings.
    • Stay safe and have fun performing!

III. COMPETITION DATE AND FORMAT

  • Competition Date: April 10, 2021
    • Solo/Duet/Trio Dances will use Zoom conference software to conduct live competition.
    • Group Dances will compete with video submission offline.

IV. REGISTRATION

  • Any incomplete registration and/or unpaid payment will consider forfeit the competition.
    • All music files must be uploaded to the registration website before March 21, 2021. Late submission will not be accepted.  Please see detail in below Music File section.
    • All video files must be uploaded to the registration website before March 14, 2021. Late submission will not be accepted. Please see detail in below Video File section.

V. COMPETITION DIVISIONS

  • Competition Level
    • Professional (Contestants in the level is an employee of a dance company of practice dance for practice more than 20 hours per week)
    • Instructor (Contestants in the level are instructors who teaches dance)
    • Competitive (Contestants in the level practice dance for more than 4 hours per week)
    • Intermediate (Contestants in the level practice dance for less than 4 hours, but more than 2 hours per week)
    • Recreational (Contestants in the level practice dance for less than 2 hours per week)

 

  • Dance Categories:
    • Chinese Folk Dance
    • Chinese Classic Dance
    • Chinese Classic Dance (Han/Tang Dynasty) 
    • Ballet
    • Contemporary Dance
    • Others (i.e. Modern Dance, International Ballroom Dance, Tap, Jazz)

 

  • Group Categories – participants are allowed to compete in multiple categories, but may only register one performance in each category
    • Solo
    • Duet
    • Trio
    • Group

 

  • Time Limit
    • Solo / Duet / Trio: Maximum of 3 minutes
    • Small Group (4-10 dancers): Maximum of 5 minutes
    • Large Group (11-24 dancers): Maximum of 6 minutes
    • Super Group (25+ dancers): Maximum of 8 minutes
    • Exceeding the time limit: 
      • $25 for every 0.1 to 30 seconds 
      • Any music exceeds an additional 2 minutes will not be accepted

 

  • Age Categories (as of January 1, 2021)

R/A/C Level (Competitive,  Intermediate,  Recreational)

  • For group performances, the average age of the entire group will be used to determine the age category.

 

  • Awards
    • The organizing committee holds the right to determine the number of each award based on the number of dances registered for the competition.  The following awards will be given based on the rank of the contestants:
      • Elite Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance
      • Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance
      • Gold – 1 Trophy per dance
      • Excellent Effort – 1 Certificate per dance
    • Other awards:
      • Judges’ Choice – 1 Trophy per judge
      • Taoli Spirits (Best Teamwork, Best Techniques, Best Expression, etc.) – 1 Trophy per dance
    • Original Choreography Award: Platinum and Elite Platinum award winners’ original choreography (indicated in contestants’ entry forms) – 1 Certificate per dance
    • Award for Teaching Excellence: instructors with three or more Platinum and Elite Platinum award winners – 1 Certificate per instructor
    • Any of the above-mentioned awards can be unfulfilled
    • The Planning Committee reserves the rights for final decisions

 

  • Music Files
    • The music file must be in the “.mp3” format.  Other formats will not be accepted.
    • The music file must be uploaded to the online registration system by March 21, 2021. Late file submissions will not be accepted.
    • Competitors are responsible to share music during competition.  If competing music is discrepant from the file uploaded in the registration system, PACDA and/or organizing committee has the right to stop the competition any time and disqualify the competitor.

 

  • Group Dance (4+ dancers) Video Files
    • The video file must be in 1080P.mov or mp4.H264 format. Other formats will not be accepted.
    • The video file must be uploaded to the online registration system before March 14, 2021.   Late file submission will not be accepted.
    • The video file must be recorded between 2018-2021.
    • Videos from previous Taoli World Competition will not be accepted.
    • Videos must be filmed wide-framed, horizontal, landscape. NO VERTICAL, TALL VIDEOS.
    • While filming, try to stable the camera at a wide-angle.  Make sure the video has a good lighting and clearly showcase the dancers.  Self-editing or altering the video will not be accepted.
    • Participating videos can be professional filmed production of other competitions and/or performances.
    • The music must be LOUD and clearly heard in the recording of the video.

 

  • Additional Requirement
    • Dances should be suitable for the audience of any age
    • Any promotion of religious beliefs and/or political propaganda is prohibited.

I. COMPETITION FEE

  • Non-PACDA Member: $68 USD per routine, no limit on the number of dancers.
  • PACDA Member: $63 USD per routine, no limit on the number of dancers.
    • Entities: must be a current PACDA Organization Member (Register up to 10 routines; if space available, additional routines may be added after the deadline)
    • Individual: must be a current PACDA Member

– If you are part of a studio/group, please submit the registration fee for all the dances under your studio/group at once.
Please use Zelle (used by all major U.S. banks) to transfer fund to payment@pandance.org; A discounted rate would be given for using Zelle: $65 per dance for non PACDA members and $60 per dance for PACDA members.

Registration fee deadline: March 14, 2021.  There will be a $15 late fee per act after the deadline date. No entries will be processed without full payment. All balances must be paid in FULL prior to the competition. No cancellation or refund would be processed after March 28, 2021
