GENERAL INFORMATION

  • All entries and performances need to be collectively registered by the studio/academy. Students and/or parents must not establish a school account by themselves.
  • The registration teacher or person in charge is responsible for entering correct and complete information into the registration system. If the participant is registered as an independent entrant, please indicate “Individual” under Organization Name.
  • The teacher or person in charge must carefully read all the disclaimers before submitting the entry. All registration information must be viewed and confirmed prior to submitting it to the system.
  • If any adjustment is needed, the person in charge will need to report to the organizing committee at least 2 weeks prior to the competition for review and approval.  Once the competition time schedule has been finalized, any changes due to personal reasons may be disqualified for special awards, judge’s choice awards, and highest overall awards.
  • Due to the length of the competition, all entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • The payment method will be specified within the registration system, all payments need to be made in full prior to the competition.
  • Pan America Chinese Dance Alliance (PACDA) reserves the right to add additional competition days and/or change competition times. PACDA also reserves the right to cancel any event that does not meet the minimum number of acceptable entries.
  • In the event of a canceled competition, all entry fees will be refunded.
  • There will be NO refunds for entries if the required minimum number of acts are registered and the competition has been confirmed.

All Regulations and final interpretation rights of this competition belong to the competition’s Organizing Committee.

SAFETY

  • Dancers competing take certain inherent risks when involved in any physical activity. Participation in this competition indicates the acceptance of such risks by the performers. Therefore, upon registration to any PACDA event, it is agreed that participants will not hold PACDA responsible for injuries that occur or illnesses that may be contracted during the competition event.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, stay safe, and enjoy performing!

COMPETITION DETAILS

  • Seasonal (Solo/Duet/Trio/Group Dances)
      • Seasonal will be competing online through Zoom video submission.
        • Due to the tight time limit of the Winter Session, contestants may submit an incomplete video at a minimum of 1 minute of the dance; the Winter Session will not have an award setting, only Ranking and Highest-Overall certificates will be given.
        • Completed Dance Videos are required for both Spring and Summer Sessions.
        • All performances received Special Awards and Elite Platinum will advance to Annual Finals; Platinum Awards, Highest Overall in Age/Level, and Highest Overall in Dance Category may be invited to Annual Finals if spaces are available.
      • Performance that received Advanced to Finals may choose to participate in the New York Finals, Pan America International Dance Competition, and/or California Finals.
  • Finals (Solo/Duet/Trio/Group Dances)
      • All Finals will be competing in person.
      • Master classes will be available during the Finals, please visit the the website for additional information.
      • Pan America Multicultural Gala will be hosted after the CA Finals Competition.

  • Time Limits:
      • Exceeding the time limit must be approved by the organizing committee
      • An additional fee is required
      • Any music that exceeds an additional 2 minutes will not be accepted

        • Small Group (4 – 10 dancers) – Maximum 5 minutes
        • Large Group (11-24 dancers) – Maximum 6 minutes
        • Super Group (25+ dancers) – Maximum 7 minutes
  • Age Group: (as of January 1st, 2024; Duet/Trio and Group Dances will take an average of all dancers)
      • Young Children: Age 5-7
      • Children Group A: Age 8-10
      • Children Group B: Age 11-12
      • Teen Group A: Age 13-15
      • Teen Group B: Age 16-18
      • Young Adult Group A: Age 19-29
      • Young Adult Group B: Age 30-35

  • Awards:
      • The organizing committee holds the right to determine the number of each award based on the number of dances registered for the competition.  The following awards will be given based on the rank of the contestants:
        • Preliminary – Winter: Performances received Advance to Finals and the Highest Overall Top 3 will receive 1 certificate per dancer
        • Preliminary – Spring & Preliminary – Summer:
          • Elite Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Gold – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Excellent Effort – 1 Certificate per dancer
          • Taoli Spirits (Best Teamwork, Best Technique, Best Expression, etc.) – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • The highest score of each Age Group and each Level Category: Seasonals – 1 certificate per dancer
          • Outstanding Choreography: Elite Platinum and Platinum awards winners’ original choreography (indicated in contestants’ entry form) – 1 Certificate per dance
        • Finals:
          • Elite Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Platinum – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Gold – 1 Trophy per dance & 1 certificate per dancer
          • Excellent Effort – 1 Certificate per dancer

          • Teaching Excellence: Instructors with three or more Elite Platinum and Platinum award winners’ – 1 trophy and 1 certificate per instructor
      • Any of the awards mentioned above can be unfulfilled
      • The organizing committee reserves the right to the final decision
  • Music Files:
      • The music file must be in the .MP3 format, other formats will not be accepted
      • The music file must be uploaded to the registration system 2 weeks before the competition. Late submissions will not be accepted (the actual date will be notified separately).
  • Videos Requirements:
      • The video file must be uploaded to the registration system by the due date. Late submissions will not be accepted.
      • The video file must be recorded within 1 month of the competition date.
      • The dancers in the video files must be the dancers registered in the system. The organizing committee will take corresponding measures if improper behaviors such as replacing dancers are found.
      • Please keep the background clean, try not to have subtitles, school logs, dancers’ names, and other factors to ensure fairness.
      • The video must be filmed in a wide-framed, horizontal, landscape with good lighting and clearly showcase the dancers. Self-editing or altering the video will not be accepted.
      • Please ensure the music in the video is loud and clear.
  • Dance Photos:
    • All performances must provide a full dance video recording and two (2) dance photos (one horizontal, one vertical) on the specified date (to be determined).
    • Dancers must wear costumes with full makeup, photos must have a clean background – a white background is preferred.
    • Dance photos will be used in the Award Ceremony and future promotions.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Dances should be suitable for audiences of any age.
    • Any promotion of religious beliefs and/or political propaganda is prohibited.

COMPETITION FEES

  • Competition Fee – Please refer to the Registration System

      • PACDA Active Member School or PACDA Individual Members may benefit USD $5 discount per dance.
      • All registration fees must be paid together by the organization/school except those registered by Individuals
      • Due to limited spaces, there will be a limit of 10 performances that can be registered per organization.  Any additional request must be approved by the Committee before registering.
      • Please use Zelle® (used by all major banks) to transfer funds to payment@pandance.org.
        • For using Zelle payments may benefit USD $2 discount per dance.
        • Please note your studio name or group’s name in the memo; individuals, please note your name and the performance name in the memo.

Registration Fee must be paid in full 2 days after registration closed; any unpaid/incomplete registration will be disqualified for the competition.
